Packed with rare archive footage, relive the sights and sounds of steam working on the British Rail network between 1965 and 1968.

This special compilation DVD is comprised of clips from enthusiasts personal film records captured during the final years of steam operating on the old British Rail network. The result is a wonderfully nostalgic programme which features many of the last steam-hauled specials including the famous 15 Guinea Special on 11th August, 1968.

Trackside footage ranges from mainline express passenger trains to rural branch lines and freight workings. Highlights include the splendour of the Somerset and Dorset route between Evercreech Junction and Bournemouth, busy scenes at Carnforth Depot, the LMS Birkenhead Steam Depot and expresses departing from Aberdeen Station for Glasgow.

There are also some lovely atmospheric shots of London expresses on the Great Central Railway crossing the Midland Mainline at Loughborough, 8Fs and 9Fs at Shrewsbury with its cotton hill sidings and cattle vans as well as the last steam-hauled Cambrian Coast Express on 4th March, 1967.

The producers have carefully matched this rare archive film with authentic sound from the internationally famous Peter Handford Collection, allowing you to feel closer to the action than ever before. So sit back and enjoy the final years of BR steam.
